Satyam Prakash, studying in IIT Kanpur as a B.Tech student will do his summer internship in DATA SCIENTIST profile at AXIS BANK

- WHEN DID YOU START? I STARTED TO PREPARE AROUND MID OF MAY ‘20. IT IS THE APT TIME TO START YOUR PREPARATION AS THIS WOULD EASE PRESSURE AND YOU CAN COVER AND PRACTICE ALMOST EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR THE INTERNSHIP TESTS IF PREPARED ON A DAILY BASIS. - FOR WHAT ALL PROFILES DID YOU PREPARE? I PREPARED FOR SDE AND DATA SCIENTIST PROFILE. THESE BOTH PROFILE COVER ALMOST ALL THE COMPANIES THAT VISIT THE CAMPUS. - HOW TO PREPARE FOR CODING? CODING TESTS SHOULD BE PREPARED VERY SMARTLY. YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW AND HOW MUCH TO PRACTICE ON ONE PARTICULAR TOPIC. YOU COULD LOOK FOR THE PAST YEAR QUESTIONS ON WEBSITES LIKE INTERVIEWBIT, LEETCODE AND GEEKS FOR GEEKS. ALSO TO GAIN SOME THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE OF DSA YOU COULD ANY E-COURSE ON COURSERA, UDEMY OR WATCH TUTORIAL VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE. - HOW TO PREPARE FOR APTITUDE/QUANT? BRUSH UP YOUR PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS SKILLS BY REVISING COURSES SUCH AS HSO201A OR MSO201A. SOLVE VARIOUS PUZZLES ON INTERVIEW BIT AND BRAINSTELLAR. - HOW TO PREPARE YOUR RESUME? THE BEST METHOD FOR THIS IS TO ASK YOUR SENIORS WHO HAVE GOTTEN AN INTERNSHIP IN YOUR FIELD OF DOMAIN. TO MAKE YOUR RESUME LOOK GOOD ADD PROJECTS AND SKILLS WHICH WOULD INTEREST THE COMPANY. ALSO BE AWARE NOT TO ADD UNNECESSARY SKILLS WHICH YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DEFEND IF QUESTIONED ON. - HOW TO PREPARE FOR HR QUESTIONS? IF YOU ARE NOT SO GOOD IN SPEAKING IMPROMPTU THEN IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO PREPARE WELL FOR THE BASIC HR QUESTIONS BY WRITING THEM OUT AND READING IT IN FRONT OF MIRROR BEFORE THE INTERVIEW. (THIS MAY SOUND CHILDISH BUT IT WORKS!!)

Before sitting for internship it is very important that you plan well. First select the domain in which you are interested. And start looking for materials in that field. Preparations should be done on a continuous basis and you should avoid breaking your streak. If you want to be company specific then you should for sure look out for the past year questions asked in that company tests. The same could be found on sites like interview bit, gfg, and leetcode. After being shortlisted, the next big thing is the interview. For the interview process, you should be confident enough to answer any question based on the things written on your resume. Also during the interview if any question is asked be sure that you think out loud while solving the problem. This helps the interviewer to understand your logic well. Also if you are stuck, then is usually observed that asking the interviewer for any hints is quite beneficial. In my case, the major factor was how you answer any question based on your resume. Also be sure that you are well versed in the field in which you are applying. In case of DSA, try to cover questions from all the variety. In case of data science, study all the algorithms in depth and not just memorize its library functions. Study its mathematical implementation too. Also if have any time left you could read several articles on sited like towardsdatascience.com and medium.com.
