The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is an institute renowned for the vast amounts of talent present within its student community. We, at IIT Kanpur, are lucky to have a strong and helpful alumni base, good relations with many companies and organizations, and a student body driven towards excellence.
The Students' Placement Office (SPO) is tasked with, not only providing opportunities for students when they leave the security of the campus for the larger world, but also with making sure that students leaving IIT Kanpur are prepared to take the world by storm.
From a company point of view, this opportunity grants you a time slot and a chance to meet with your target audience to better gauge the quality of talent at IIT Kanpur. From an alumnus point of view, this is a way to come back to the campus and re-live your enjoyable days at IIT Kanpur while giving back to the future of the institute.

Aditya Thareja is a Y6 alumnus from the Mechanical Engineering department at IIT Kanpur. He was the Overall Placement Coordinator in 2010, and had been an active member of the English Literary Society, Vox Populi, and the Counselling Service.
Aditya has worked for ExxonMobil and has played a crucial role at ITC Technologies. His management of ITC's cross-functional team has been responsible for a great deal of profit for the organization. Aditya's knowledge of the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector is an invaluable asset to our alumni-base, and the students of IIT Kanpur.

(Chief Scientist at Shell)
Following a PhD in physics from Eindhoven University of Technology, Vianney Koelman joined Shell in 1989 as research physicist. He held a range of technical and managerial positions in R&D and oilfield development, and worked in the Netherlands, UK, US, Oman, and Nigeria. In 2010 he got appointed as Chief Scientist Petrophysics. He combines this role with that of General Manager Computational R&D in Shell. Since mid 2012 he is based in Bangalore where he is building a Computational Science Centre serving the whole Shell Group.
Dr. Koelman will share Shell’s plans on Computational R&D. A key part of this plan is building a Computational Science Centre and thereby a sustainable corporate R&D presence in Bangalore. He will also discuss Shell’s PhD75 program. Over the next Four years, this program will give MTech/MSc students the opportunity to join Shell’s R&D ranks in Bangalore via a fully sponsored PhD in the Netherlands.

Nitin Agarwal is an alumnus from the 2000 batch of the Electrical Engineering department at IIT Kanpur (with a minor in CSE), and a graduate of the 2002 batch from IIM Ahmedabad.
Nitin is currently Director and Head of Debt Trading at Barclays Bank PLC, India. He is currently settled in Mumbai and lives with his wife Varnika and a four year old daughter Navya. His areas of professional expertise are macroeconomics, global capital markets, derivatives, trading and structuring. Prior to Barclays, he has worked in global markets based in London with renowned names like Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley. His great depth of experience has led to a massive improvement in interest rate swaps. He has been at Barclays Capital for more than eight years, and his information on the investment banking industry is unparalleled.
